Oregon Coast to Boise Day 7 Sunday September 15, 2019

Today starts in Jerome, Idaho
And finishes in Winnemucca, Nevada

Places Visited Along The Way, Photos, and Notes
I awoke in Jerome, ID but was not feeling entirely well
For some reason, I was experiencing virtigo
Standing and moving made the world spin
and my stomach followed.
As I learned a couple days later, if you get dehydrated, it can affect your inner ear
Yesterday was in the low 90's and I rode stretches for hours not stopping
It is not easy to drink water (hydrate) in a full face helmet while riding
I, of course, considered myself to be above natural laws
and had given no thought whatever to stopping from time to time to drink some water
Now I was paying the price
With an unstable tummy, breakfast was not on the table for me today
Fearing the worst, but feeling a little bit better
I headed off toward Twin Falls, hoping for the best
Somehow, on the bike I felt much more stable and not so ill.
While riding, my head was relatively steady
Going south from Twin Falls is absolutely nothing
until you get to Jackpot, NV, nearly 50 miles
not a store nor a gas stop, just distance.
Jackpot is nothing but about 3 casinos and a gas station
I gassed up and moved on

US-93 is a long, lonely road
The first real city in Nevada is Wells more than 65 miles further south
There is not a whole lot there that caught my eye
so I did not stop
I did finally stop in Elko, another 50 miles, and gassed up
I passed several trains about a mile long heading both directions

Which engaged me in some mental calethetics:
If a two trains each a mile long pass one another
one, empty, travelling 40 MPH, the other, loaded, travelling 20 MPH
How long from when they pass head to head until they pass tail to tail?
Answer: two minutes
I originally planned on stopping in Battle Mountain
But there is not a single motel there that I wanted to rent
That change of plans, an extra 50 miles, made for a very long day
At last, I made it to Winnemucca
A long day and due to my queesy stomach I had had nothing to eat all day
Best Western Plus Gold Country Inn for some thankful rest
Stepping off the bike at the various stops was iffy
Moving around made the world unstable beneath my feet
All day, although feeling weak, I was confident
The bike ran extremely well and smooth
